We contract grow in excess of 200 hectares of seed with selected growers and procure a further 250 hectares from our dedicated growers.
In order to achieve full satisfaction in the supply chain SPL encourages transparency between our suppliers and customers.
Varieties under our full control include Cara, Charlotte, Claret, Desiree, Estima, Harlequin, King Edward, Maris Peer, Maris Piper and Wilja, though we have full access to all the main varieties.
We have an ever expanding association with countries both within the EU and beyond and have very strong business relationships with Egypt, Cyprus, North Africa, Spain and Sweden.
We are committed to sourcing and exporting the highest quality seed and ware potatoes.

Formed in 2005 and based in Forfar in the heart of arguably some of the best agricultural land in Scotland, we have progressed into a successful and competitive professional potato business. Trading between 15,000 and 20,000 tonnes of seed and ware annually gives us the experience and ability required to fulfil our existing and potential customers’ stringent requirements.
We are Breeders, Growers, Merchants and Exporters with over 25 years experience in the potato industry.
We have our own breeding programme and are marketing agents for Harlequin and Claret, two excellent tasting varieties bred by the world renowned James Hutton Institute. We have a dedicated supplier group growing our Pre-basic through to SE grade seed and we QC all our potatoes on site.
Minituber production is an important part of our business and we have purpose built polytunnels on site with a production capacity of 150,000 minitubers annually. We produce new varieties and can reintroduce inactive varieties. Our customers range from multinational companies to individual growers.
Cyprus, Egypt, Europe and North Africa are some of our export destinations, however, we are always looking for new relationships worldwide.

We are successful in the production of new varieties that have high taste profile, performance and versatility. We have an investment programme for the continual introduction of new varieties providing for all types of customers from multi-nationals to individual farmers.
We currently have 2 varieties ( Pippa and Gael ) going through National Listing and have had excellent trial results for both varieties ( see attached info ).
